  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Complete a 60 hour driving
  • Pass a physical
  • Complete DOJ Live Scan
  • Pass with DMV written test.
  • Be at least 25 years of age.
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Have a professional attitude
  • Enjoy being around and relating to teens
  • Have the patience of Jobe!
  • Have the desire to make a difference
  • Can work independently and part of a team

If you are, have, completed, or are completing the above then you have met some of the legal requirements. The licensing process has become much simpler. The new licensing process can be achieved in less than 1 week.

STEP 1
Schedule Live Scan appointment ($25 - $75). Form is obtain at the facility conducting the live scan. More information is here: http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/publications/contact.htm

STEP 2
Schedule medical exam ($0 - $65.00). The form is named DL 546A (Physician’s Health Report). The form can be downloaded here: http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/publications/contact.htm

STEP 3
Complete the online Instructor Course. Create your account here: http://www.driversity.com/academy. Your supervisor will give you the course enrollment key for the course.

STEP 4
Attend a live driver education course.

STEP 5
Schedule your written Instructor License Test at DMV by calling 1-800-921-1117. The fee is $31.00. The test is
50 questions error factor of 10 or less. Make a note of this date and time and notify the office.

STEP 6
Download and complete the instructor application form (OL16). You can obtain that form here:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vehindustry/ol/forms/drivinginstructor.htm. Please note this application must be signed by the Driversity administration.

STEP 7
Gather together the following items:
a. GED or HS Diploma
b. Completed DL546A
c. Completed and signed OL16
d. Signed certification letter from Driversity
e. Completed Live Scan receipt
f. Any copies of Court documents, if needed.
g. Make two copies of all of the above. Provide the office with one copy.

STEP 8
Schedule Driver Training with Driversity’s Instructor Trainer. You will need to complete several lessons. You may also be required to attend other training sessions.

STEP 9 Call the office as soon as you are finished testing and let us know how you did.
