When you are ready for your license...

1. Must make an appointment at DMV
2. Be at least 16
3. Your permit must be at least 6 months old from date of issuance
4. Present proof of completion of the 30 hour driver's education (blue certificate OL 237 and white certificate OL 392)
5. Present proof of completion of the 6 hour driver's training (gold certificate).
6. Your parents must sign your permit acknowledging that they have practiced with you for at least 50 hours and 10 hours must be at night. The practice must be conducted with someone 25 years or older with a California license.
7. You must bring a safe car in working order and present current registration and an insurance certificate for that car
8. You must take and pass the road test with a 85% passing score

When all is said and done..

Your license will be valid for 4 years
